Battle builder

Choose a map, build your army and the enemy's, and download the battle as the file the game keeps for its last custom battle. Start the game and Custom Battle opens with that map and both armies. Maps are the 391 land-battle maps of the game's battles table; costs are the multiplayer prices from main_units. Patch 9.0.

Play a downloaded battle

Choose a map, then a general and units for both armies, and press Download battle.
Close the game if it is running — it saves its own last battle to this file.
Open %AppData%\The Creative Assembly\Warhammer3\battle_preferences (paste the path into the File Explorer address bar). Keep a copy of the .singleplayer.battle_preferences there if you want your last battle back, then put the file from the ZIP in its place.
Start the game: Battle → Custom Battle shows the map and both armies.

The game keeps one last custom battle, so a downloaded battle replaces it. The file holds the map and the units; the game adds their abilities. Time of day, weather, funds and the time limit stay as they were in the file this format was read from (the builder doesn't change them yet) — set them in the game. Opening your own battle file here keeps your settings.

Only one army? The army builder saves a single army to load in Custom Battle.
