Units, lords, items, spells, armies and skill builds for Reddit, Discord, Steam guides, forums, YouTube descriptions and blogs — with the numbers of the current patch (9.0.4) and a link back here. Free to use; keep the visible link to us. Cards update themselves after every patch.

Copy ▾ on every page

Unit, lord, item, spell and race pages, rows of the item and unit key lists, the army and battle builders and the skill planner have a Copy ▾ button. It gives the entity as a link, for Reddit (Markdown), Discord (no tables, the small print line), Steam guides and forums (BBCode), plain text for a YouTube description, an HTML link for a blog, a picture (copy it straight into Discord or a Reddit post, or download it for a Steam guide), and the console line the game takes. Options

Set them before or after the script — <script>window.twdbTooltips = { theme: "dark", autolink: true }</script> — or as attributes on the script tag: data-theme="light" data-icon-links="false".

colorLinks	true	Colour our links by item rarity and lore.
iconLinks	true	A small game icon before each link (iconSize: 'small' or 'medium').
renameLinks	true	A link whose text is the bare address shows the entity's name instead.
theme	'auto'	'auto', 'dark' or 'light' — auto follows your page's background (or the reader's dark mode).
touch	true	On phones the first tap shows the card, a second tap follows the link, a tap elsewhere closes it.
autolink	false	true: find unit, lord, item and spell names in article, .entry-content and .post and link them.
ping	true	Count, once per page view, how many cards your page shows (host name only, no cookies, no personal data).

Other hooks: data-twdb="units/hammerers" on any element gives it that card; data-no-tip or data-twdb="none" turns a link's card off; window.twdbTooltips.refresh() after you add content yourself (the script also watches the page).

Forums: a [twdb] tag

Forum admins can add a tag without a plugin: [twdb]Emperor Karl Franz[/twdb] becomes a link through https://twdatabase.com/go/<name>, which goes to the page of that name (any case; for a name the forum's token won't take, leave the apostrophe out — “Kugath Plaguefather” works). Add the script line to the forum's page template too, and the links get cards.

phpBB 3.3

ACP → Posting → BBCodes → Add a new BBCode. BBCode usage:

INTTEXT takes letters (any alphabet), numbers, spaces, commas, dots, minus, plus, hyphen and underscore — safe inside an address. Avoid {TEXT} there: phpBB warns about {TEXT} in sensitive places. Script line: the end of overall_footer.html in your style.

Admin control panel → Content → BB codes → Add BB code. BB code tag: twdb · Replacement mode: simple replacement · option: No. HTML replacement:

{text} is what is between the tags. Script line: in the PAGE_CONTAINER template, before </body>.

Notion, Ghost, Discourse, Medium

Paste the link. Our pages carry link previews (the entity's name, its key numbers and its picture; shared armies and skill builds get a picture of their own) and oEmbed, so editors that read either show a card: https://twdatabase.com/oembed?url=https://twdatabase.com/units/hammerers.

The GameDB Cards plugin: download gamedb-cards.zip (Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin). Shortcodes:
